Praise Report: Transformation Of Relationship With Parents

Since young, I have had a dysfunctional relationship with my parents and felt emotionally abused and hurt by them. In June 2014, I decided to submit this difficult relationship to the Lord and gave it all to Him to handle it.

I read Pastor Prince’s daily devotionals about God’s grace and how when we rest, God works. I also listened to Pastor Prince’s messages on grace and how we are the righteousness of God in Christ.

In July, I began to see how God was transforming the relationship between my parents and me. When they came to visit me in London, they were gentle and kind, and did not mock me or put me down—something they used to do. God had been working in their hearts behind the scenes and for the first time in my life I did not feel emotionally abused by them.

As I continued to spend time with them, I could feel the tangible presence of the Lord with us.

Nothing I did for the past twenty-six years was able to change how my parents treated me. It was only through resting and relying wholly on the grace of God that things changed. This is the power of God who fought my battle for me. Thank you, Pastor Prince, for your ministry of grace—it is a blessing indeed!

So I remember pastor Prince teaching on Solomon and how he had spiritual advisors.

He said we all need someone who we are answerable to regarding our spiritual life. Some one to advise, rebuke, teach and mentor us.

My question is should I have a spiritual father/mentor?

    Is it biblical,?
What role do I play as a disciple of such a relationship?
    please help here.
