To borrow a sentence from Pastor Joseph Prince, “When God does it, it’s perfect!”
I started a new job in 2012. It was a sales-related role on a contract basis at a well-known international security company. It was a good job with great opportunities and I was grateful.
However, 2013 was a challenging time for me as sales were slow. Many proposals were left hanging as clients dragged their feet to make decisions. I was worried, but I kept praying. I knew that God’s excellent Spirit was in me and I expected to see excellent results.
Throughout this period, God used every avenue He could to strengthen and comfort me—via His Spirit, daily devotionals, song lyrics, and conversations with friends. I also meditated on many verses, such as Philippians 4:6, Isaiah 43:2, Psalm 3:3, 34:5, and Joshua 1:9.
Then, on January 4, 2013, I got a call from the general manager of another well-known international company asking me if I was interested in joining them. He said I had an hour to respond to him.
But I was not looking to move from my job as I had invested much time in it and was looking forward to all the deals pulling through and reaping the fruit of my hard work. So I sent him a text after an hour, telling him that I was grateful but was not looking to move.
Two days later, he called me again to meet in his office, but I still declined his offer for a new job, until I found myself restless and unable to sleep that night. I prayed and asked God for His guidance in making the right decision. Immediately, God began to show me why I should consider taking the job. After reading the job description and seeing that it was a similar role to what I was doing then, I decided to apply for the position the next day.
In two weeks, the recruitment process was completed, and I was given a verbal offer on the morning of January 18, 2013. Later that day, I got a call from my agency, through which I was recruited for my current company. They called me to tell me that my contract with them would be terminated from February 2013. I was in shock and in awe at God’s precision in His timing. His hand was all over the situation and I had nothing to do with it.
The next day, I had a call from my manager who said that the decision to end my contract had already been made in December 2012. He did not want to spoil my holiday mood and so decided to inform me only in January. And there I was, thinking I had a secure job and was just rejecting an offer. Isn’t God amazing and awesome?
The day this had happened, the title of Joseph Prince’s email devotional I subscribed to was, “When God Does It, It’s Perfect!” I could feel God smiling at me and telling me, “I told you I had this covered!’
A week later, when I went to sign and collect my employment letter for the new job, the general manager told me that they had added on more money to what we had originally agreed for my pay, because he needed me to be comfortable with this job. I just smiled and said nothing, because this was one hundred percent from God.
In all my praying and believing, I could not have known to pray this out the way it all happened. I was not praying for a new job, but He knew that was what I needed and He caused someone to remember me when an opportunity came.
When God does it, it truly is perfect!
