Praise Report: Saved From Death Due To Rare Congenital Disorder

On April 21, I experienced severe back pain. After taking painkillers at a clinic, my body reacted completely unexpectedly. Ninety percent of my body went numb within two minutes. My body was so numb, I could not even feel myself breathe. I really thought I was facing my last moments.

I was rushed to the emergency ward, where a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) was performed on me. The doctor confirmed that I was suffering from a congenital disorder known as Spinal Arteriovenous Malformation or AVM. In my case, an abnormal connection had occurred between arteries and veins on my T1 and T3 vertebra on the upper part of my spine.

Spinal AVM is a very rare condition, and medical science is not yet certain of its causes. My blood vessels became swollen and were bleeding internally. I was faced with a very high possibility of permanent paralysis or even death and had to be operated.

During my morning devotion before the operation, I read Pastor Prince’s Meditate & Believe Right to prepare my mind to face the blades. The devotional was on John 9:2–3 and the verses spoke to me like never before: “Rabbi,” His disciples asked Him, “why was this man born blind? Was it because of his own sins or his parents’ sins?” “It was not because of his sins or his parents’ sins,” Jesus answered. “This happened so the power of God could be seen in him.” (John 9:2–3, NLT)

I believed and visualized myself healed from the operation—speaking, writing and sharing this testimony on how good my God and King is.

After an eight-hour surgery to implant titanium plates and nuts in my back, followed by 27 days of hospitalization, I am now back on my feet, walking and even driving. Praise the LORD for His power seen in me!

My surgeon also reminded me—probably for the hundredth time—of how rare and “lucky” I am compared to others who have been paralyzed or even lost their lives to Spinal AVM. I told him it was not luck. I have learned to trust and rest in Jesus.

Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, to everyone who prayed for me. Thank You, Jesus, for giving me many more blessed days with my lovely wife and three children. All glory belongs to You, my King!
