Praise Report: Redeemed From Bipolar Disorder, Schizophrenia And Multiple Personality Disorder Through Jesus’ Love

In August 2010, after years of treatment for depression, my son-in-law, Dustin, was diagnosed as being bipolar and schizophrenic with complications from having borderline multiple personality disorder. A month later, I moved my daughter and two grandsons, Caleb, six, and Logan, two, in with me for their safety.

One night soon after, her husband ended up at a Borders Bookstore, after spending the day driving from parking lot to parking lot, debating how best to commit suicide. He had wanted to read some comics to still the voices in his head. After he had sat down for a while, he looked up and saw the book Unmerited Favor. Being dyslexic, he doesn’t read, but he began reading your book and, for the first time, knew that Jesus loves him. Since then, nothing has been the same, by the grace of God!

Now, Dustin goes to work every day and no longer pretends injury or illness to come home. He spends time with his children instead of lying in bed. His threats of suicide have vanished and he walks with his head up. He speaks the Word instead of words of fear and depression. He is on a more even keel, no longer bouncing in an endless cycle from mountain top to valley that keeps everyone walking on eggshells. He has stopped calling my daughter names and is actually helping her with the children and the house so she can get her school work done (she goes to school online to get a BA degree in business). He is taking responsibility for his choices and how they affect his family.

Thank you for trusting the unimagined majesty of grace and daring to let it out into the world. God’s redeeming grace—how can any of us truly fathom its depth and healing power!
